Changing ship - trying something new. Back to basic

Last few month, after years and years owning a Canon. I make a decisions of changing ship. I jump to a yellow flag ship. Yup, it's a Nikon. Where I live, people are quite biased among Canon and Nikon. Its like a huge competition for them which is better and which is greater. For me, being like that is not necessary. Camera is just a tool to work the idea, the magic is whats inside your self. Not the gadget. Why would you so being dependable with the item instead of using your inner creativity and your ideas. Chase Jarvis made a great shot out of a Lego build camera. So why make it a competition? Yes I agree, you need the right too to make a good art. But, there's still no law saying that you cant make a great painting out of a broken brush. What if that broken brush is some media for you to create a great work of art? A new style and strokes out from a broken brush. Who knows you might make it a huge revolution out of it? Tools is just a tools. Its the inner your self that what brings the magic in it. Not the tools controlling you on what to do and how to make it happen.

Since I'm continuing my studies for a master level in art and design. I realized that to be the best is not just be with one method. You need to experiment things around you, fully use what you have, try something new and change the way you are. For me, changing from a Canon to Nikon is not a big deal. Yes I'm a pro-Canon. Everything about me is Canon. But to be a master you need to master other things and things that are out of your comfort zone. So changing ship is like I'm out from my comfort zone and I'm trying something new instead. Trying to master something new for me, and I choose Nikon (after trying Sony and Olympus). Nothing wrong with Canon. Its a great product. A magnificent cameras and lens. I'm just try to find another me with a different point of view.

It has been said : " to be a master, first you need to find your self with the tools you use. Try to find your inner self and soul with the tools. Master the tools first before you master a skill. "

Go back through time

It is being so long since the last time I posted an entry in this blog. No internet connection at home, massive work load and I'm started my postgraduate studies recently. So theres limited time for me to do other things beside job and assignments. Been trying to squeeze my time to get extra space for things I love to do. So, posting a new entry for this blog is something that I really missed and I need to get back on track.

Lately I've been rolling my self looking for some oldskol cars for my personal project. This has been running in my mind for so long and I've been looking for a car that suitable with me and something that is really classic but yet not so far away. I spend time surveying and visiting few places searching for any reck, abandon or anyone wanted to sell it away. I've been though from a BMW e30, Celica ta22 to ta 23, a Levin, Starlet, Datsun and so on as the list goes on. As I was almost end up with a BMW e30, I attracted to this little abandon old car. This car aged same as me ( I'm 27 fyi ) and it suits me as I don't really like big cars and four doors.  Its a Honda... yup, a 2nd generation of Honda Civic. A hatchback.

I'm not really a Honda fan thou. But somehow after do some research about this fella and surveying it. I found my self loving it. I decided then to pick it up and take it on as a project. So far as I discovered it's definitely a project car to be...

From the look at it, theres not much left to do on the body work. Only a few part need to be repair and a major paint job needed. Im still thinking what color to splash on it

this need to be fix

I will update on the progress to share with. I think I'll start to work on the external first before going into deep. Do give me any suggestion and your opinion on this fella.

here is a picture of how its originally looked like.

2011 its a beautiful mess ~

It's been a month after we left 2011. Lot's of things happen and lots of things come and go. Laughter, tears, frustration, depression, anger all that mix up like a bowl of salad and being eaten by time passing by. Things that makes everything are much more delicious than a raw meat or fish. Things to learn and to remember and not to forget, things to be forgotten. Welcome new chapter of life.

2011 had passed and its 2012 now. Still there is a lot of photo's that I have not uploaded. The stack of workload and pack with assignments and dealing with various clients make me lost for a while, force me to leave this blog for a while.

Hence, this is the last wedding I've photograph on 1/11/11 before end of 2011. Since then I've been crumbled by other works and life being upside down, I stopped everything that is related to photography and focus on my life back on track

The hectic only god knows, I've lost few and I gain more. I've missing the track like driving in a thick fog and only put my trust on my headlight to lead the way. Along the way I stopped by and look back at all those thing passes. Reminisce and learned from mistakes and the glory.

I'm thankful for everything that has happen and everything that has come and go. Without all that, I wouldn't learn much and I wouldn't meet and found something new and even much more meaningful. Thank you for all the supports and thank you for those who being part of my headlight throughout the thickness fog of life. Special thank you for those who still follow this blog and mailing me for more entries and photos. Bless to all of you readers

Muay Thai Boxing Challenge Super 8 - Part 1

I always love boxing fighting, we can see miracle happen, fallen warriors rise drastically, emotions, drama and so much more. I always watch a boxing match and the contender is one of my favorite. But the one I'm about to share with is something different than the boxing we know. Its a Muay Thai Boxing. Its a combat sport that uses stand-up striking along with various clinching technique

When it comes to Muay Thai, unlike boxing, they use every limbs on your body. Hands, Legs, Kick, Punch. This time I was invited to a Mua Thai challenge Super 8 extreme fight held at Titiwangsa Lake stadium, Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia.

there's only few photographer are allowed to stand beside the ring. I was trying my best to get as close as I can. I even almost end up climbing the ring.

the challenging part for me is not to get a great angle or lighting. My focus was to get the action WITH the emotions. When you get it right, other will come by it self.

at this moment it was the 2nd day to the final. I haven't upload yet the day 1 photo's because I'm away for awhile. I only have the 2nd day file with me right now

the 2nd day was full of dramatic action than the day 1

as the action and the drama goes on, I remember that I didn't let my self to look away from my view finder. Not even a sec. I just don't want to miss what's in front of me.

when I photographing something, I always remembering my self that the action happen in front of you will only happened once. It wont happen again and they wont repeat it for you. If you missed it, its your lost. If you don't capture it, someone else will. If you did, It will be only yours

and the second thing in my mind was to get as close as I can with the scene. Not by mean get my self closer with the subject. I mean get as close as I can to portray the action and the moments as clear as I could. By that, even if it takes me to get on it or be anywhere I can, I would.

It's not easy as how it looks to photograph a boxing fight. Especially when there's other photographers around you. I cant get in, but my camera does hehe...

I think that I had the best spot among others. Its right at the center of the ring on the outside. I cant move around like what I did on the day 1.I climbed the ring and almost being hit by one of fighter.

and I did do some research before going out and shooting around

emotion and action is my main target

and the drama that happened all around

most people are trying to photograph punches being thrown and kick being slash

what Im trying to do here is to get inside them, to get what they feel, try to know what they think.

try to be in their shoe and try to capture it as best as I could to portray their feelings

its not about did you get the right lighting, getting the right angle. Getting the best shots of punches

Its not just about using burst and keep on pressing the shutter button and hope that you get the best shots

its about to get as close as can with the viewer to the environment

to the moment that happened

that is what Im trying to do

and I hope I shared the best as I could to bring the viewer dive in the actions and emotions

will bring more on the final fight and day 1 scene. to view more of the pictures taken, add me up at my facebook. enjoy ~
